Potential patients are looking, so having a great online reputation makes a world of difference for medical spas and plastic surgeons. But, it isn’t a one and done task. Google changes the rules. Review sites change business models as other companies buy them. If you aren’t managing your online reputation, it has become your new practice manager! Here are some changes you need to know.
Manage Reviews for a Great Online Reputation
Anonymous Reviews: More sites are requiring authentication from the reviewer. This is for your protection to help prevent a competitor or unhappy patient from writing multiple bad reviews. However, it makes it more difficult for plastic surgery patients to write a review when they want to remain anonymous. Some review sites still have business models that allow patients to write anonymous reviews (Vitals, Healthgrades and WebMD). This can change at any time.
Respond to Reviews: PUMC recommends that you request Google reviews first. These appear in Google searches and on Google maps. In addition, Google suggests that you respond to all reviews. While some review sites do not allow response, most do. Here is a startling statistic from a recent survey: 89% of people reading online reviews say they read the responses. Don’t pass up the opportunity to communicate with potential patients by answering reviews.
Why does PUMC’s Global Online Review site no longer accept anonymous reviews?
Following Google’s rules is important for your reviews to appear higher in Google search results. Thus, PUMC’s Global Online Review system complies with Google’s rules as they change. Some review sites have business models that require extensive time to change when online guidelines change. Our programming is more flexible. Two rules on our Global site have changed to help us maintain SEO for your best reviews.
- Signing in with Facebook or Google is now required to write a review on PUMC’s Global Online Review site. It shows your first name and last initial. This helps prevent fake reviews while maintaining your SEO. If you need an anonymous review, please check one of the review sites for doctors listed above to make sure they still do not require authentication.
- Review microsites for our clients now show all reviews. The page is sorted by “Recommended” to redisplay your best reviews. Readers have the option to sort reviews multiple ways to see your best ratings, lowest ratings, most current reviews, etc. Website review pages continue to redisplay your best reviews. Once again, this is to comply with Google’s rules so that we can maintain SEO.
Great Online reviews are vital for your reputation. It’s the new word of mouth. But, we understand that the landscape changes with every season. If your reputation isn’t all that it should be, contact PUMC to put our expertise to work for you.
