She quoted his website as “www.name of website.com”.  Or, she said “www.plasticsurgery.org”.  Going to plasticsurgery.org didn’t tell me anything about the doctor. She should explain what that site is, etc.

Again, very nice, but I don’t think they get trained. She sounded like she was supposed to get off the phone as quickly as possible.

Overview:

I think they lack the most info on web sites. They don’t seem to have a working knowledge of the web. And very little knowledge of their field.  They need specific training on answering the phone and any question they may get and take time with the caller. Its their dime, so to speak.

Standard fee for full TT $5,500, if you don’t need full could be less; plus anesth hourly, depending on how long doctor determines surg may take aprox $500-$600; and operating room aprox $1,750, includes pre-op and overnite stay. Out patient is done at same hospital (Weir Medical Center facility), but for major procedures like this, the hospital normally likes to keep you for 23 hr observation. A lot of people think it worth the extra trip just to get that extra day.

Method of Payment Available:

CC; cashiers check; money order. They usually don’t like to take personal checks. They can refer you to a finance company – Unicorn Finance Service.  They charge between 9%-19%, so you want to compare. What they do is have you fill out form and they fax to finance company. Finance company lets you know within 24 hrs. But only the doctor is covered, not the anesth. or hosp.

I didn’t get the feeling she knew much about the actual procedure (although she may). She repeated a couple of times “with a procedure this big. . .”

She said they are just now working on his web site. She (like many others) obviously didn’t know the difference between e-mail and web site addresses. She said some people find him under ASPS, but She said I might find something under drsmith@1st.net, but didn’t know what I’d find.

Public Relations Skills:

She was very nice. Not rushing me. Got the feeling she gave me what she knew. Was very friendly. Made me comfortable.  She was curious how I got his name if I live in CA, but never acted suspicious or unfriendly.

Overview:

Like many in her position (whatever that may be), I got the feeling she was not trained in answering questions. She gave me what she knew in a very relaxed friendly manner, but I don’t think she knows much about what is involved in the procedure or about the doctor’s background.
